Drucker on TF's the world is flat

The landscape is flat only if there is an opportunity from it being flat.
But if there is an opportunity, it will not be flat for long.

It's important to specialize, but on the other hand is dangerous to over-specialized and be isolated!

(some Drucker's view with regards to Thomas Freidman book The World is flat)

Applying Knowledge to Knowledge

Technology is the application of yesterday knowledge.

The new wave is to apply knowledge to knowledge. The next big thing!

(Peter Drucker quote on how war of Gulf  & Terrorism will be won)

Peter Drucker's Philosophy

Efficiency is doing things right.
Effectiveness is doing the right things.

MONEY
Money follows knowledge
Money is not a problem
The problem is leadership and direction.

Profitability is not the purpose of,
but a limiting factor on,
business enterprise and business activity.

We need a measure, not a count.

MANAGEMENT
Management has mostly to do with people,
not techniques and procedures.
Their Engagement is what matters.

Management by objectives works only if you first think through your objectives.

KNOWLEDGE
Learning is a lifelong process
of keeping abreast of change.

The most pressing task is to
teach people how to learn.

The essence of management is to make
knowledge productive.

We will not be limited by the information we have.
We will be limited by our ability to process that information.

INDIVIDUAL

Know your strengths.
Ask, what needs to be done.
Ask, what do you want to be remembered for.

3 Most Important Questions
What is our business?
Who is the customer?
What does the customer consider value?

(Quoted from The Definitive Drucker, by Elizabeth Haas Edersheim)

A beginning

Over the years, I have been reading, talking and recording philosophies that have make certain changes and impact to my life. I grew to like them or sometimes even hate them, yet I almost can't leave them. Ignorant is not a bliss, I am quite an ontology addict. This Ontologytree blog will be my first blog for recording good philosophies that I was inspired, touched, moved or puzzled.

Human life is a daily encounter of what is and what it should have been. The Existence vs The Essence. But it is also about the journey, the stops, and everything else that sometime seem to hard to describe in words.

When I look back this post, I hope to be glad for starting this. To be happy that I decide to record it down for future reference. Most of the blog contents will be ideas from great minds, that from time to time, I will read and reflect, try to understand and interpret and perhaps that could point me to a wiser direction.

c'est la vie... lets' live it well.
